I don't care what you nitpickers have to say - I know it's not photo-perfect. Screw dat, I'm done here.

It is kind of disconcerting that Painter 9's logo is a hand with like 9 fingers. What was wrong with the good 'ol paintbrush? Now all of my Painter files are extraneous-finger-handed.

But aside from that, yeah, there are some relatively small but very nice changes, like the ability to paint along a path. Yes! I've been trying to do that ever since I discovered paths in Photoshop! And a "digital watercolor" brush set that I might actually use, unlike the regular watercolors which are too much like real watercolors for me to handle. ^^;; And Photoshop-style layer masks, which will save me some "Preserve Transparency" grief. And a real palette! Which I will probably never use, but is a very nifty feature!

It doesn't make me paint better. But it makes me feel like I do. <g>

Anyways, you care. Here's something a tad more care-worthy. Now it looks like I'm all finished BUT I'M NOT. You'll see. YOU'LL ALL SEE. JUST YOU WAIT

Water test.

How convincing does it look? [info]erichowens previously reported that it looked too static. Is this better?

#%^@&, I'm done.

...With the costume, that is. Still got the whole background and stuff to do ^^; And I've sure got plans for that one.

The weather reports all say there were supposed to be thunderstorms Wednesday, but it was all clear... no fun.

I am nerdier than 65% of all people. Are you nerdier? Click here to find out!

I am ashamed.

From my computer networking textbook:

We would like to be able to give you a one-sentence definition of the Internet, a definition that you can take home and share with your family and friends. Alas, the Internet is very complex and ever changing...

But what will my family and friends do without Distilled Essence of Internet? ::cry::

Anyway, here's a bit o' progress. Despite appearances that I'm getting closer to finishing the shading, there's still a lot of costuming and background details that aren't even drawn in yet. Look for the finished product around, oh, end of March ^^;;
Nov 24th, 2004 02:52 pm - Mmmm, progress.

And on my end -

The reason I went looking for (and very luckily stumbling into) new Zelda material last night was because I was looking at the concept artwork for reference. I'm really worshipping the painting style, and I'm trying to see if it's one I can emulate, because hey, it looks hella good, *and* I have some hope of figuring out how to pull it off (unlike some of the other artists I admire).

I think I'm relatively successful so far.

Very excited about my Computer Graphics class. I had expected it to be mostly about using computers to model rudimentary imaging (DRAW-A-CUBE-USING-COORDINATES-AND-VECTORS), and be very mathematical/computational. But while it does involve a good deal of programming and math, we're also going to be doing quite a bit of the graphics part, including modeling and animating and ray tracing and such. What's more, this class is newly structured to be a three-part year-long course, including Computer Animation in the spring =) And there's hearsay of animation contests...

And speaking of computer art, remember this doodle?

. . . . (PGSM future spoilers)

Made great progress on the fic this weekend. It's nearly in beta-readable condition! Chapter 1, that is.

"Eyes On Me" (FFVIII) is such a horrendously sappy song, even too much for my tastes, but somehow I'm finding it addicting. There's something about the combination of the Engrish lyrics I'm not listening to and the Asian-accented voice of the singer that moves me...

Same goes for "Suteki Da Ne" (FFX), though it's slightly better than Eyes On Me. Only slightly.

Ooo!! (232kb? Geez.)

Woah, woah... another turn I never expected the series to take (so soon). Unless it doesn't, because this was apparently "just" a picture from the Visual Book...

Loveses for Minako's dress, even though I seem to be the only one who likes it. Ami looks weird. Mako and Rei have very nifty styles. But why are they all white? More princess-y, yes, but kinda boring...

Need less contrast! Need more detail...
Apr 29th, 2004 10:16 pm - At this rate I'll flunk right out.

I did it again... hardcore doodling in lieu of note-taking.

PGSM ep 21+ spoilers, again... )

The figure drawing was good this week =) I'll take pictures over the weekend.

PGSM ep 24 = !!!!!!!!!!!!

Next episode is where everything's gonna come together, as per manga. Man, they better not end it before stuff could happen, on a cliffhanger... they probably will. XP

...Dammit!! I won't be able to download the next two eps till I get back from spring breakkkkk~~!! ...Maybe I'll just download the raws at home anyway~~~~

Sweetass. (PGSM ep 21+ spoilers)

This'll be ripe for fanart, I just know it.

The matter of SM fanart makes me sad, however, because I know my skills are such that I could make something really really ass-kicky now, and I'd love to make such a tribute to my old fandom, but I have so utterly no time to get around to it. Alas, someday.

On the matter of fanart in general, though, that doodle from last night (which turned into a bit more than doodle) is up in the secret gallery. And if you still can't find the secret gallery... well, I guess you'd better IM me.

I wanted to show something in return to the friend I'm leeching Buffy from, but the only thing I really have are eps of live-action Sailormoon. And the more I think about it, PGSM is really not a show for the unitiated. I mean, sure, its plot stands on its own, and such. But how can one fully appreciate the oddity of Nephrite's new look, and Tuxie's supposed suaveness, and the... something... ness... of taking orders from a talking cat, if one is not familiar with the original anime or manga?

Well, I may give it a try anyway. See how it turns out. <g>

On the other hand, I'm definitely gonna sing "C'est La Vie" at Anime Club karaoke night to torture those already subjected to the cheeziness. Mwahaha.
Sep 21st, 2003 07:13 pm - Err?

In case you didn't know, the live-action Senshi will have non-anime hair when in civilian form.

OMG Ami-chan looks like me x.o

Edit: Oh yeah, and Luna's a blatant merchandising plug plushie. Right there, see.

Hmm, the train of thought runs now to the four Generals, and how ultra-bish-AzNh0th0th0t they will inevitably be...

Cast for the live-action Inner Senshi.

Well, I think their faces match the characters pretty well =) but can't say anything more until we get to take a better look at stuff further in production. Please please no Seramyu-style costumes...

Oh, it says the characters are all 14 years old, so it looks like they're retelling the story again instead of a continuation series. Not surprising.

Hey, Jupiter (Azama Myuu) has the same birthday as me. ^_~

Edit: Oh wait, here's apparently a picture of the costumed cast. Looks like a heavier manga influence (Venus's chain, Mars's decoration thingy on her waist, Mercury's lack of sleeves etc.), can't go wrong there. =)
