| Done. They gave us baseball caps with tassels and a dinky MP3 player. :3 Demo reel here. Now for jobs. | |

| Since ling84 seems to think I'm dead, I'd better let you guys know I'm not. First, Sonic is officially in Smash Brawl! ...Snake is cooler though. And now, the mystery of sculpture guy solved: In your face! How does he do it?? P.S. If someone can tell me what Link is doing to/with Zelda in this video ( Edit: in respect to the game. Is that a taunt?) then you are better than me. | |

| I was going to post about this earlier in the term but I guess I didn't. For Zbrush class everyone picked a monster/creature out of a hat to model, and I got... a zombie. I said "Well, that's awfully generic isn't it?" and got to pick again and got... Gollum! Finally those Art of LotR books and general ex-fangirl obsessiveness have come in handy. Obviously I'm not that good with Zbrush yet, and there are a lot of things I would be able to do easily on a clay sculpture that I had trouble achieving. But Zbrush had some perfect tools for painting skin, yes it did. I actually painted the entire texture with ease during class in a couple of hours. (Not so good for doing eyes, though. That's more of a Photoshop + Maya role.) | |

| Okami is the most beautiful game ever made, hands down. And it's topped Ocarina of Time as my "best game ever", at least until Twilight Princess comes out (possibly). But I'm not even past the "prologue" (15 hours in), so no spoilers mmkay? As for some not-so-beautiful art, here's some renders from my Gnomon homeworks so far. http://www.liuart.com/gnomon/monitorrender1.jpghttp://www.liuart.com/gnomon/monitorrender2.jpgIntro to Maya assignment: NURBS; model the monitor in front of you. http://www.liuart.com/gnomon/watch2.jpgIntro to Maya assignment: NURBS; model watch from a picture. We'll texture it next week. http://www.liuart.com/gnomon/bunnies.jpgTexturing 1 assignment: make some of these materials from procedurals: wax, rubber, opaque plastic, gold, glossy paint, glass, chrome, clear plastic, metallic paint. I made all of them, some more successful than others. The environment is ugly but it's just to see if everything reflects/refracts properly. http://www.liuart.com/gnomon/mallet1.jpghttp://www.liuart.com/gnomon/mallet2.jpgTexturing 1 assignment: texture a polygon mallet. But I made it into a mallethead shark :) Hand-painted textures just to see if I can. Will have more in 1 or 2 weeks, including Okami-inspired brush marker practice! | |

| Finished that grasshopper pic! I'm playing through Majora's Mask for the second time and trying to get 100%, this time without walkthroughs! (...Well, I had to peek once so far to get a stray fairy. Stupid stray fairies. Stooooopid) Knowing the inverted Song of Time makes this game rather better for taking my time to explore and get that Zelda feel. But I'd sure hate to play it raw if I didn't have any idea of what I was doing. (Then again, I never did get that fourth bottle in OoT...) Of course, now that I've made it to Great Bay Temple, I think it's time to give it a break. Dear god. ^^;; | |
| I halfway did a painting but then the computer wouldn't come out of standby. [sweary] [swear] [swear] laptop. Didn't even come with a stupid manual. So here's a drawing of a fuzzy thing instead. Chuzzle Deluxe is evil addictive hazardous to your productivity oh so cute. They squeak! Oh Popcap, what'll you think of to enslave our souls next. | |
| ( Seashells. )I am trying to do art every day but it's tough-ish to find suitable subjects, especially ones that won't take me forever. ^^; | |
| So, first bit of obligatory fanart. There's about a 0.1% chance of this actually happening in the game, but it's what started coming to mind when I think about Zelda adept with a sword, and hear other people discuss the co-op dungeons in Wind Waker. And I know it doesn't make sense for her to be dungeon-crawling in such a fancy dress, but it's the only bit of official wardrobe we've got, dammit. ( I think we took a wrong turn at Albuquerque ) | |
| I don't care what you nitpickers have to say - I know it's not photo-perfect. Screw dat, I'm done here. | |
| Well, obligatory inasmuch that I haven't actually drawn anything for Valentine's Day for the past few years, but uh... you know I would have. Meant to. ;P Anyways, I always see various fanartists putting up cute pictures every Feb. 14th, and it gets me all wanting to do one too, but by then it's too late. But NOT THIS TIMEAlso updated website with some stuff you've seen before, and some stuff you haven't. Edit: Geez, it looks pretty crappy when I view it on the monitor at work. Will try to fix it up better when I get back. Damn contrast. Edit edit: Okay, that should be better, although now I can barely see it on my screen ^^;; | |
| A military uniform design for Wild Sphere. I had also done an officer uniform earlier, but it was teh lame. This enlisted soldier actually has some depth =) Although his rank insignia is colored wrong and I'm too lazy to go back and fix it ^^;; P.S. And yes, the uniforms are supposed to have some Japanese influence. | |
| A portrait for a dude at work, painted from photo. I'm going to bed now. | |
| Ooo... thanks to my virus scanner, I found the Inbox folders I thought I had lost. They seemed perfectly intact and not corrupted or anything, so I can't imagine what happened that time to make Outlook Express lose them. Not that I actually need 99% of those messages, but just for nostalgia's sake... And now I know where to go to back up my e-mails too, seeing how my computer seems to be on the fritz again... --- Yay, finished! (144Kb) Those banners were crappy hard... the "paint" keeps smudging to where I don't want them to. ^^;; They're supposed to be black and white, can you tell? Also: the two extra-crinkly rocks on the left were just practice for the one on the right. Yeeeah. | |
| Now that I've finished blasphemizing classical art... =P (large file, 136Kb) Um... have to do CS reading. Edit: Somebody says: Too much work was put into this...Yeah, too damn true. As is the case with near everything I do. XD | |
| Oddly, Spring Break was much more productive than Winter Break, even though the latter was thrice as long... * The Noble, a commission colored in Painter 7 with "colored pencils" and "oil pastel" for the background. Playing around with the tools, pretty much. * The Birth of "Venus" in progress, for Anime Club. The Fresh Produce topic this time is "bastardization", or putting anime characters in "unlikely situations". One of the samples/inspirations provided had Naruto characters inserted into classical art, so I figured it was a good opportunity to do this (painfully unoriginal) idea that I've wanted to do but had no reason to spend the effort. =P * Bunnie! Charcoal pencil sketch from still life. I'm still wondering why my art teacher had such a thing. ^^; * Young Girl, by Robert Henri. Colored pencil from oil painting. Unfinished, but looking sorta nifty. =) Just wish I had darker pencils, and such... I left the Prismacolors at school. And finally, there is the ArtRenewal Salon Competition, which just completely flabbers my gast. I left this link last because I look like absolute carp in comparison to these blue whales. Go, and let your jaw drop accordingly. Will I get to that level some day? It doesn't seem damn likely... but I do have another 40 years or so to try. =) | |
| Finished!Okay study time ^^;; Edit: Okay instead of studying, updated website ^^;; | |
| Whew! This one'll be good for selling prints. =) It seems like that as SOON as we entered March, the weather took a leap straight into summer. Now it's stuffy-hot in the room 'cause we don't get good circulation, even with the window wide-open. This shall be hazardous to getting work done... | |
| Okay, okay, okay, so I've been gone so very much. That's a condition not likely to change till the end of the quarter, and possibly even past that. ::cry:: But here's a pic. I colored it for Anime Club, for a thank-you card to Tofu Records. The tofus depicted are from the music videos they showed at karaoke night: T.M. Revolution's "Invoke" and Nami Tamaki's "Believe". <g> The Fresh Produce subject for this time is Nintendo =) That is, two weeks to draw something on that topic for the Anime Club, and for once it's something I care about enough to take the time to draw. Time to bust out the... whatever it is I bust out when I draw...! Edit: Oh yeah, and the leaves on their heads are, of course, a reference to Happa Tai. We had a lovely group do "Yatta" during said karaoke night. ::snerk:: Edit edit: No, I cannot explain the pants-down-ness. | |
